POULSBO -- Three people were injured and transported to Harrison Medical Center late Saturday after their car left the roadway and struck a tree on Highway 3 one mile north of Poulsbo.

Washington State Patrol identified the injured persons as Mikal E. Vogt, 24; Christopher N. Vogt, 23; and Stephen J. Chase, 31, all of Poulsbo. All were wearing seatbelts, state patrol reported. The crash occurred at approximately 10:28 p.m.

According to state patrol, Mikal Vogt was driving the 1997 Honda Civic four-door on northbound State Highway 3 in lane two when the vehicle left the roadway to the left. She overcorrected to the right and the vehicle crossed the northbound lane, rotated clockwise, then exited to the right shoulder and struck a tree.

State patrol determined the crash was caused by inattention. Vogt was cited for driving with wheels off the roadway.
