Kingston man arrested for possession of stolen boat

KINGSTON — Duncan MacDonald Whyte, 38 of Kingston, is charged with second-degree possession of stolen property in Kitsap County Superior Court.

On Jan. 22, a boat was reported stolen from the Vista Key Drive area in Hansville. The boat was found on the Port Gamble S'Klallam reservation by Tribal natural resources officers Jan. 30. The suspect was recognized and seen running from the area where the boat was found.

Whyte, the subject of a Department of Corrections warrant for escape, was found at a residence in Kingston Jan. 30. When searched, the county sheriff's deputy found a baggie of methamphetamine, and Whyte was also arrested for possession of methamphetamine.

According to the report, the boat is worth about $2,500.

Whyte was booked into Kitsap County Jail on $100,000 bail.
