POULSBO — Two women were injured, one seriously, when they were reportedly struck by a vehicle that left the scene on Pioneer Way, Friday.

Poulsbo Fire firefighters went to the scene at 8:30 p.m.

The women, age 18 and 19, were walking southbound on Pioneer Way when they were struck from behind by a vehicle, Poulsbo Fire spokeswoman Jody Matson reported. The 18-year-old was thrust into the 19-year-old and both girls landed in the ditch.

The 18-year-old suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center's trauma unit. The 19-year-old was transported to Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton with minor injuries.

The women did not see who hit them but believe it may have been a truck. There were no suspects late Friday. The Kitsap County Sheriff's Department is investigating.

Poulsbo Fire has a video of personnel assisting the women on its Facebook page.
