Missing teen located in South Kitsap

PORT ORCHARD — Gabriel Deshawn Boyd, the 13 year-old previously reported as missing in South Kitsap, was located by sheriff's detectives around 3 p.m. Thursday.

Boyd was found inside a recreational establishment in Port Orchard, according to a Sheriff's Office news release. He was unharmed.

Information about Boyd's possible whereabouts, provided by the public and media, assisted detectives in the course of this investigation.

Boyd was last seen at East Port Orchard Elementary School, 2649 Hoover Avenue SE in South Kitsap, around 3:30 p.m. Jan 2.  His family reported that he left his mother’s house to visit with a friend and hadn’t returned.

Boyd has been returned to his mother.

Sheriff Steve Boyer, Patrol Chief Gary Simpson and Chief of Detectives Dave White wish to express their appreciation to the volunteers of Washington Explorer Search and Rescue, Kitsap Unit, together with All Breed Canines Search and Rescue, for their response and effort in initiating a ground search of the South Kitsap Regional park and surrounding neighborhoods.
