Port Townsend woman arrested for stealing food

POULSBO — A Port Townsend woman was arrested Dec. 3 for allegedly stealing food from a North Kitsap residence.

Dakota M. McBride, 31, is charged with burglarizing a home in the 23000 block of State Highway 3 just outside Poulsbo.

On Dec. 3, the resident called the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office when he arrived home and found a white female leaving his residence in a dark blue Chevy Suburban. According to the charging document, the suspect allegedly told him she went into his house to return his dog, which was “running loose.”

According to the report, “among several missing items from the house were a bag of frozen hamburger patties, a large tube of coffee creamer, and individual boxes of chicken pot pie.”

A Jefferson County deputy stopped the suspect’s vehicle, driven by McBride, about an hour later; McBride told the same story of returning a dog. The deputy noted the missing items, including chicken pot pies, creamer and hamburger patties, in her backseat. The deputy also noted a taser in the front seat, which McBride said she had because “she was afraid of the homeowner.”

She was booked into Kitsap County Jail on $75,000 bail.
