Who should read this guide?
If you are starting a business in British Columbia, or already operating one, you should read this guide. It explains the basics of British Columbias social service tax, also called the provincial sales tax (PST), administered under the Social Service Tax Act.
The purpose of this guide is also to help you know your tax responsibilities and rights so you can avoid assessments and penalties, and receive the benefits you are entitled to under B.C.S tax laws. The PST legislation and regulations may change each year at budget time.
