Car gets extra crispy
behind Pizza Factory
KINGSTON A 1992 sedan that caught fire behind the Pizza Factory in the Kingston Thriftway complex could have been much worse if not for quick action by restaurant employees, according to North Kitsap Fire & Rescue officials. The fire ignited at about 8 p.m. April 24 after an employee stopped to pick up more pizzas to deliver. Another employee saw the flames, told the driver and evacuated the building while calling 911, NKF&R officials said.
The fire was quickly put out and found to be accidental by investigators. It was parked near 500-gallon propane tanks, and the blaze could have easily spread to the buildings and the tanks, officials said.
