POULSBO — Poulsbo Fire Department officials have something to cheer about after yesterday's vote, which passed their proposed levy lid lift by a 55 percent margin.

Voters decided to allow an increase from 88 cents per $1,000 of assessed value to $1.29 per $1,000. The additional income will allow Fire District 18 to hire more employees, update their equipment and staff Station 72, the Surfrest Station.

The next election update will be posted on the Kitsap County Web site at 4 p.m. today, and can be see at www.kitsapgov.com.

The Herald will run a full story on the issue Saturday.
