A Level 1 burn ban implemented in Kitsap County July 13 will be lifted at 8 a.m. July 27, according to the Kitsap County Fire Chiefs Association and the Washington State Department of Natural Resources.

The ban was put into effect after hot weather, dry vegetation and high winds caused concerns of wild fires igniting. After unseasonably wet conditions, however, the local vegetation moisture content has been restored, and the ban lifted. The ban restricted all fires but those for recreational use, which could only be used on specific conditions.

Officials continue to caution residents in burning practices as more hot, dry weather is scheduled for the area.
