Poulsbo storage barn destroyed

in Aug. 10 blaze

POULSBO — Poulsbo Fire Department and Navy Region Northwest firefighters responded to a fully engulfed barn fire at about 2:40 p.m. Aug. 10 near Scandia Court, said PFD officials. Calls to 911 reported a column of black smoke and large flames visible from the area.

The barn was about the same size as a three-car garage, and the frame was beginning to collapse when crews arrived, officials said. Firefighters got the blaze under control in about five minutes. The owner had been out of town the week previous to the fire, and didn’t have any knowledge of how the blaze started, officials said. The investigation has been turned over to the Kitsap County Fire Marshal.
