Mike’s Car Wash suds up Fishline funds

POULSBO — Mike Brooks is once again making a contribution to the Poulsbo Lions Raab Foundation Bellringer Fund, donating $2 from every washed car for the month of December at Mike’s Car Wash & Detail in Poulsbo Village.

Brooks said the effort is one it’s only right to pitch in for.

“It’s a good cause to give back to the local community,” he said. “I’m a big believer in the Lions Club and they’re a major part in this.”

The Bellringer Fund is now in its 56th year of offering assistance with bills, food, emergency transportation and Christmas gift baskets for area residents.

Poulsbo Noon Lions Club member and fund organizer John Macdonald said Brooks’ original offer six years ago came as a fantastic surprise.

“He has contributed a percentage of what his car wash sales are,” he said. “Each year, he’s presented us with a nice check.”

Brooks said his combined previous donations hit near the $10,000 mark, and he’s looking forward to continuing contributions in his sixth year of involvement.

“We have customers that come in and say, ‘The reason I’m here is because of what you do in the community,’” he said. “It makes us feel good, too.”

Mike’s Car Wash & Detail is located at 19774 7th Avenue. Cash and check donations to the Bellringer Fund can be sent to Bellringer Fund, P.O. Box 1244, Poulsbo, WA 98370. The help number of the fund is (360) 697-6087. Donations can also be dropped off at Frontier Bank in Poulsbo at 19950 7th Avenue, or at the North Kitsap Herald office at 18887 Highway 305, Suite #700.
