A Suquamish man is charged with trafficking in stolen property at the Poulsbo Walmart.

Chastin O. Hoffman, 29, was arrested for first-degree trafficking in stolen property Nov. 19. According to the report, Walmart security staff had seen Hoffman allegedly steal items from Walmart and then return the items for cash at a later time.

Hoffman was allegedly seen via surveillance video stealing a water filter and dog flea medicine, valued at $98, on Oct. 17. Staff was unable to apprehend Hoffman before he left the store. Staff saw Hoffman again Nov. 19 returning the flea medication and water filter.

According to the report, Hoffman became violent when staff attempted to detain him for the police; staff let him go when "the situation became dangerous for the staff and customers." Walmart staff reported to law enforcement the car Hoffman left in, and Hoffman was stopped on Lindvig Way and arrested.
