Tara Lemm joins the North Kitsap Herald staff this week as the new education and sports reporter. Lemm earned a bachelor’s degree in communication/journalism from Seattle Pacific University in 2003. Her previous journalism experience includes general assignment reporting at “The Leavenworth Echo.” She also wrote sports for the Seattle Pacific University newspaper, “The Falcon.”

“Although I have yet to be commissioned by Spain, I’ve worked humble jobs that have enabled me to explore, live and grow. I’ve lived and worked throughout the Northwest, traveled across much of America, as well as internationally,” Lemm said.

Lemm brings real-world experience to her new beats, as she worked as a Title I educational aide for Riley Creek Elementary in Gold Beach, Ore., and was a competitive gymnast and coach for more than 10 years. Her passion lies in traveling and using life itself as a learning experience.

“Tara is a welcomed addition to the Herald staff,” said Editor Celeste Cornish. “Her background in education and competitive gymnastics plays well into her new role and I’m looking forward to working with her.”
