Arrest in Indianola for reckless driving

INDIANOLA — A 19-year-old East Bremerton man was arrested and released on suspicion of reckless driving and hit-and-run on Indianola Road Sept. 6.

A car crashed into a garage near the intersection of Indianola Road and Orca Drive; the crash was reported about 8:30 p.m. Another report was made at the same time from another driver who reported his car had been hit by a car of the same description in the same location.

Suquamish police, North Kitsap Fire & Rescue and sheriff's deputies went to the scene.

According to the report, the victim of the alleged reckless driving was traveling eastbound on Indianola Road. The suspect's vehicle allegedly approached from behind at 70-80 mph and began to pass in a no-passing zone. Another car approached in the opposite lane, and the suspect's vehicle slowed to pull back into the eastbound lane, striking the victim's driver's side rear corner.

According to the report, the driver of the suspect vehicle said his car hit the curb and went off the roadway, crashing through a garage. The suspect reportedly told officers he was traveling between 55-60 mph; Orca Drive is a 25 mph zone.

The 19-year-old man was booked into Kitsap County Jail and released Friday morning.
