SUQUAMISH — A Bremerton man was arrested on suspicion of attempting to steal a boat in Suquamish Aug. 23.
Vasis A. Turner, 30, is charged with third-degree theft.
According to the report, a Suquamish police officer reported to a sheriff deputy that a man in a green truck was trying to steal a boat from George’s Fireworks stand on State Highway 305, between Poulsbo and Suquamish. The stand is on the Port Madison Indian Reservation.
When officers arrived, the suspect said he was picking up a boat for his friends, the owners. According to the report, when officers asked Turner who the owner was, he could not provide the last name or information about the owner(s). A check on the boat’s registration located the owner, who was not who Turner said.
“Turner had no evidence indicating he had any right to the boat whatsoever,” the report states.
Turner was booked into Kitsap County Jail on the theft charge and a DUI warrant from Bremerton Police.
