UPDATE | Police searching for truck driver who may have caused Agate Pass Bridge crash
July 30, 2012 · 4:45 PM
Police are searching for a truck driver who may have caused the crash that closed Agate Pass Bridge on Bainbridge Island Monday.
Witnesses reported seeing a large, blue, late-model Ford pickup truck traveling northbound on Highway 305, and said the driver drifted into oncoming traffic.
A driver in a Cadillac swerved to avoid the Ford truck, authorities said, but after swerving and overcorrecting, the Cadillac driver hit the guardrail before his vehicle collided with a silver BMW.
The Cadillac was driven by a 77-year-old Suquamish man. The BMW was driven by a 66-year-old Bainbridge Island woman, who had a 13-year-old girl in the car.
The Suquamish man and the Bainbridge Island woman were airlifted to Harborview Medical Center for treatment. The teenage girl was rushed to Harborview via an ambulance.
The driver of the Ford truck left the scene and has not been found.
Police are asking anyone with information to call 911.
