POULSBO — Four scouts from Poulsbo Boy Scout Troop 1571 acted as color guard for the Fourth of July flag lowering ceremony aboard the USS Turner Joy (DD-951), famed Navy destroyer from the Vietnam War now maintained by the Bremerton Historic Ships Association.

Bremerton Mayor Patty Lent presided over the ceremony.  The scouts: Alex Ashley, Max Baumann, Wesley Olivas and Brendan Ryder.

The ceremony was suggested by Harborside Condo residents Bob and Ruth Bollard as a way to demonstrate patriotism and support for military families. Troop 1571 was founded April 30, 1931 and is sponsored by the First Lutheran Church of Poulsbo.
