KINGSTON — Pat Bennett-Forman, learning specialist at Wolfle Elementary School, was selected to attend the 2012 International Leadership/Management Seminar at the University of Texas, Austin in July.
Bennett-Forman is one of 31 educators selected from among 100 applicants from the United States, Canada, Latin America and Europe. She will participate in two weeks of workshops on leadership style, decision-making, negotiations, communication, networking, and management led by faculty of the McComb School of Business.
Delta Kappa Gamma International, or DKG, is a service organization for key women educators. It sponsors the event and pays for most expenses, including travel.
When asked about her interest in applying for the seminar, Bennett-Forman said, “In a time when so many organizations are feeling the impact of a slow recovery, it is imperative that leaders motivate staff and members to be creative and self-reliant. Service organizations need new approaches to engage younger people to join in supporting and building community.”
She is hopeful the intensive seminar will enhance her skills for such leadership tasks.
