POULSBO — Andra Murray, North Kitsap School District elementary instructional coach, has received the regional 2012 Excellence in Mathematics Education Award.

She was selected for the award by the Washington State Mathematics Council and Olympic Educational Service District 114.

Murray makes a difference in the lives of North Kitsap students by working with elementary teachers to improve instruction, according to the award, by sharing effective teaching practices and tools to help all teachers maximize their skills and resources in the classroom.

“This award represents the hard work and dedication of all our elementary staff, particularly the grade level representatives on our Math Assessment Team,” Murray said.

“We’ve worked collaboratively to develop and revise common trimester assessments aligned to our Power Standards, while implementing our new math program.”
