POULSBO — In commemoration of Flag Day, Boy Scout Troop 1571 will host an American Flag Retirement Ceremony on June 12, 7 p.m. at First Lutheran Church of Poulsbo’s Frederickson Property on Big Valley Road.

Troop 1571 is accepting donations of worn U.S. flags for retirement. Worn U.S. flags may be placed in the gray plastic bin in front of the church. Or email Paul Davis at pauldavis@pflc.org.

Flag Day was adopted June 14, 1923, the same day the National Flag Code was adopted by the National Flag Conference providing regulations concerning the display of the American flag. On June 22, 1942, Congress codified the Flag Code, which describes the procedure for retiring worn flags.
