POULSBO — Miss Washington Outstanding Teen Nicole Renard of Kennewick will serve as grand marshal of the 43rd annual Viking Fest Parade, Saturday.

Margie Perry, co-executive director of the Miss West Sound Scholarship Program, said Renard is standing in for Miss Washington Brittney Henry, who had a death in the family.

Renard was formerly Miss Tri-Cities Outstanding Teen. She won the Preliminary Talent award this year at the Miss America Outstanding Teen pageant in Orlando, Fla. She has been dancing since a very young age.

She has a published cookbook called “The Official Miss Washington's Outstanding Teen Cook Book.” She is busy promoting her national platform of “Hope for a Cure: Teens against Cancer,” in a photographer, and is an avid Dr. Seuss fan.

Renard serves as Miss Washington’s Outstanding Teen until May 27, the date of this year’s pageant.  Miss West Sound, Miss West Sound Outstanding Teen, Miss Washington and Miss Washington Outstanding Teen are part of the Miss America Organization.

Editor’s note: In the May 11 Kitsap Week, the parade grand marshal was misidentified as Christina Clarke. Clarke is Miss Washington USA, a part of the Miss USA organization.
