Gig Harbor — Former Sequim mayor Walt Schubert is endorsing Doug Cloud for Congress.

“Doug is an honest man and a strong advocate for property rights,” Schubert said. “He will make a good congressman.”

Cloud, a Republican, is running in Washington’s 6th Congressional District which includes Kitsap County. The seat is open following the retirement of longtime incumbent Norm Dicks.

“I have long admired Walt as an intelligent and practical leader. It means a lot to me to get his endorsement,” Cloud said.

According to Cloud’s campaign, he is a strong advocate of constitutional government, supports free markets and is “firmly against bailouts and stimulus spending.”
