Man arrested for fatal shooting in Poulsbo Tuesday night

POULSBO — A 56-year-old man was arrested late Tuesday night after calling police on himself in connection with the fatal shooting of a 74-year-old man.

Detectives from the Poulsbo Police Department, Kitsap County Sheriff's Office and the Washington State Patrol are investigating the circumstances of the 75-year-old's death on Feb. 21. Both men were found at Viking Crest Condominiums, 20097 Viking Crest Loop, in Poulsbo.

The incident began at approximately 9:53 p.m., when sheriff's deputies were dispatched to State Highway 3 and Tytler Road for a report of an armed 56-year-old man making threats to harm another man who was not in that location. The caller said the subject was leaving to look for the other man in Poulsbo. When deputies arrived, the suspect had departed.

The Poulsbo Police Department began checking apartment complexes. Ten minutes after the first 911 call, at 10:02 p.m., the suspect called 911 and confessed to being in the apartment of the other man, who was already dead.

The 56-year-old man was taken into custody at Kitsap County Jail. The investigation continues.
