Friday: Snow-related closures, cancellations in North Kitsap

POULSBO — This is a list of snow-related closures in North Kitsap. The list will be updated through the day.

CANCELLATIONS AND CLOSURES

— All North Kitsap School District schools are closed Friday. All meetings, field trips, after-school activities, and practices are canceled. District facilities, including the North Kitsap Community Pool are also closed.

— The County Administration Building and most other county offices, with the exception of courts, are regularly closed on Fridays.

Port Gamble S'Klallam government offices and operations are closed Friday. Call the emergency information phone line, (360) 297-6248, to check on office closures or other emergencies.

— All Kitsap Regional Library branches are closed Friday. "Based on the forecast, we expect the weather conditions to improve by mid- to late-afternoon," library spokesman Jeff Brody said. "KRL administrators will have a conference call at 6 p.m. today to make a final decision about reopening for Saturday."

— The Winter Ball scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 21 at Kingston High School, has been cancelled because of snow. The event may be rescheduled and an announcement will be made early next week.

— The Robert Burns Night event in Bremerton, featured on page 1 of Kitsap Week in Friday's North Kitsap Herald, has been cancelled. Organizers say the event will be rescheduled and an announcement made later.

DELAYS

— Suquamish Tribe government offices will open at 10 a.m. Friday.

— Delivery of the North Kitsap Herald is delayed. Delivery will begin at 7:30 a.m. Friday.

— The Olympic View Transfer Station opens at 9 a.m. Friday. Garbage and recycling stations at Hansville, Olalla, Poulsbo and Silverdale open at 10 a.m.

— The Kitsap County Courthouse and other county offices are operating on a two-hour delay Friday. The Courthouse will open at 10 a.m. Employees are asked to report at 10 a.m. so that Courts are able to begin the calendars, including ex parte at 10:30 a.m. This message will be updated at 9 a.m. if conditions change.

— PSNS & IMF Bremerton and Bangor site non-essential day shift personnel are authorized a two- hour reporting delay on Friday. Some worker/driver buses will not operate Friday. — Kitsap Transit will operate a Limited Route System all day Friday. Limited routes will operate by current service hours with multiple buses. Departure and arrival times from transfer centers and park & rides will depend on conditions. ACCESS will operate service only within 3/4 mile of the Limited Route System. There will be no service in outlying areas. Contact Kitsap Transit ACCESS at (800) 422-2877 or 479-7272 for ride information.

Worker/driver buses will operate as normally scheduled unless the opening of PSNS & IMF is delayed or curtailed on Friday. If opening is delayed two hours, worker/driver buses will be delayed as well. If PSNS & IMF close, worker/driver buses will not operate.

The No. 32 Poulsbo/Silverdale will operate between the Silverdale Transfer Center and the Poulsbo Transfer Center traveling Greaves Way to Highway 3 to Highway 305. The bus will not serve the Olympic College area or downtown Poulsbo.

The No. 90 Poulsbo/Bainbridge will operate its normal bus route between the Poulsbo Transfer Center and the Bainbridge Ferry Terminal.

A north-end bus will travel between George’s Corner Park & Ride and the Bainbridge Island Ferry using Bond Road and Hwy. 305.  It will operate to and from George’s Corner at the times the #91 would normally operate. There will be no service to Kingston or Suquamish.
