SILVERDALE — Due to the expected bad weather conditions over the next few days, the South and Central Kitsap Trails Plans workshop scheduled for Jan. 19 at the Eagles Nest is canceled, according to county planner Dennis Oost.

The next session is scheduled for Jan. 26, at the Long Lake Community Meeting Room, 5100 Long Lake Road SE, Port Orchard, from 6-9 p.m.

Kitsap County is moving forward on a Central and South Kitsap trails plan to connect with the already-approved North Kitsap Trails Association’s String of Pearls.

"The workshops will cover the components of the plan that are unique to these regions of the county and those chapters, formulated with your participation, that strengthen the plan eligibility with grant funding agencies," said Oost, the county's non-motorized trail planner.

This is the first in a series of workshops the county will host:

- Feb. 2, Island Lake Community Room, 1087 NW Island Lake Road, Poulsbo, 6-9 p.m.

- Feb. 9, in the Commissioners Chambers, Administration Building, 614 Division Street, Port Orchard, 6-9 p.m.

- Feb. 16, at the Eagles Nest Meeting Room, Kitsap County Fairgrounds, Silverdale, 6-9 p.m.
