NORTH KITSAP — More than 60 artists in 22 studios around North Kitsap invited the community into their workshops to shop and learn, as part of the ninth annual Art in the Woods Studio Tour, sponsored by Cultural Arts Foundation Northwest.

“I never knew what a wealth of artists had studios in this area," said Leigh Knowles, studio coordinator. "The studios were so interesting, the quality of the work was high and the hospitality was wonderful — this is what I heard over and over from visitors."

Art in the Woods took place Nov. 11-13 in Indianola, Kingston, Poulsbo, Suquamish and other North Kitsap locales.

The studios had crafts on display — glass, jewelry, paintings, pottery, wood carvings and more — for sale as well as for show. Karrie Stemmler, artist and co-owner of Indianola Pottery, said this was her pottery's third year on the studio tour and sales “surpassed our expectations.”

“It was fun to see returning customers and an outpouring of support from new customers, friends and neighbors,” she said.

The Cultural Arts Foundation Northwest also hosts the Poulsbo Arts Festival, as well as local scholarships and grants. For more information, visit www.cafnw.org
