Former Poulsbo mayor Kathryn Quade and her husband, Doug, are living in Abu Dhabi, the second-largest city in the United Arab Emirates.

The Herald contacted her via Facebook and asked her about reaction there to the death of Osama bin Laden.

"Most of the reaction is from ex-pats. And they are every bit as happy as folks back in the US. This sentiment is shared by other European and Middle Eastern ex-pats as well. There is some discussion about 'what's next' but no expressed fear or decisions to leave the middle east. The UAE is pretty stable at this point. There does not appear to be any 'back-lash' towards Americans."
