YAKIMA — The Kingston Buccaneers meet the Squalicum Storm in the State 2A Boys Basketball Tournament semifinals today, 5:30 p.m., in the Yakima Valley Sundome.

The Buccaneers were 16-4 in their fourth regular season; Squalicum, the two-time defending state champ, was 13-7.

A win today and the Buccaneers face either Burlington-Edison or Clover Park on Saturday 9 p.m., for the state title. A loss, and the Buccaneers meet the loser of the Burlington-Edison/Clover Park game for a chance at third, Saturday at 11:15 a.m.

You can find tournament brackets at on the WIAA Web site and live game coverage at www.cybersportsusa.com. Tad Sooter of the North Kitsap Herald and Kingston Community News is in Yakima and will file stories, photos and slideshows at the half and final.

Kingston advanced to the semifinals Thursday, blazed past the West Valley Eagles of Spokane 67-47. The Buccaneers were buoyed by a 28-point performance by Zane Ravenholt. The victory put Kingston within two wins of a state championship and the team can place no lower than fifth in the tournament.
