McKinstry faces charges
Jun 10 2008, 4:20 PM Kingston resident Garrett James McKinstry is facing first-degree murder charges in the alleged homicide of his father, Jeffrey McKinstry.

The stabbing death took place at the family’s Kingston home on Oct. 11, 2007. The first-degree count indicates the alleged homicide was premeditated.

“We are confident that we can justify first-degree murder charges,” County Prosecutor Russ Hauge said.

Poulsbo Village awaits Seventh Avenue debut
Jun 10 2008, 4:20 PM POULSBO — Poulsbo Village patrons awaiting easier access to their favorite stores may have to wait just a little longer.

The opening of the Seventh Avenue extension connecting State Route 305 near Forest Rock Lane with the much-visited shopping center hasn’t quite happened yet, but the anticipated thoroughfare is close to making its debut.

City officials said just a few more checklist items are needed for completion. The road has been paved and is mostly ready for use; street lights will be installed in a second phase of work. The project was originally expected to be finishing in November.

Jun 10 2008, 4:20 PM POULSBO — Want to live to be 100? Eat your veggies. That’s the advice from Ada Robertson, and she should know. The Poulsbo resident gathered in the company of family and friends at the Liberty Bay Presbyterian Church on Feb. 2 to celebrate her 100th birthday.

On Jan. 31, 1908, Robertson was born in a house her father built in Boissevain, Canada. It was the first house to have indoor plumbing and be built of bricks in the province of Manitoba.

In 100 years, her many adventures have given Robertson quite the story to tell.
