Then, they towed it to a buoy and tied it there to keep it from returning to the beach. Sheriff's deputies were enlisted to help; they shot at the carcass, hoping to make it sink. Now, port employees have weighted the carcass down with chains and cinder blocks, hoping to send it to the bottom of the Sound.
