KRL puts new levy on Nov. 2 ballot
Aug 13 2010, 3:20 PM Directors of the Kitsap Regional Library say they feel cautious but prepared in bringing a levy increase to county voters on Nov. 2 that will raise $36.5 million over 10 years for library expansion, operations and maintenance.

Voters spurned a levy request three years ago and KRL considered another attempt last year before deciding it wasn’t ready.

Now, however, they feel more confident with their new proposal and the fact there has been a dramatic increase of library users during the last two years. Prior to its levy defeat in 2007, KRL had previously gone to voters only in 1979.

Kingston man's truck stolen, crashed through gate near Bremerton
Aug 17 2010, 1:34 PM Two runaway teens from Port Angeles crashed a stolen pickup truck registered to a Kingston man through a gate south of Bremerton Monday night, while trying to outrun a state trooper.

The teens, males ages 16 and 17, received minor injuries and were booked into Kitsap County juvenile detention after being treated at Harrison Medical Center, according to a Washington State Patrol report.

The truck, a 1993 Ford Ranger, was totaled in the crash.
