Man burned, boat singed at Kingston Marina when kerosene heater catches fire

A man suffered burns and the cabin of his gill netter sustained significant damage when the crew's attempt to refuel a kerosene heater went awry at the Port of Kingston's guest dock late Thursday. Crews were dispatched just before 11 p.m. on Thursday following a report of a boat ablaze. Because of the large potential posed by marina fire, the incident initially drew a big response.

The SoundRunner passenger ferry will begin accepting ORCA cards starting Nov. 1. Port Commissioner Marc Bissonette said all the equipment is in place and is being tested, and users are currently able to purchase the transit cards for SoundRunner under Kitsap Transit.

Olympic View Publishing Co., publisher of the Sequim Gazette, the Forks Forum and other publications, announced today the sale of the company to Sound Publishing Co. The announcement comes in the wake of the announcement Monday of Sound’s purchase of the Peninsula Daily News and Sequim This Week from Horvitz Newspapers LLC.
