Jogger hit by car on Bond Avenue near Minder Road, airlifted with head and leg injuries
Sep 21 2011, 10:04 AM A Kingston man was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center with head and left-leg injuries Wednesday morning after being hit by a car on Bond Avenue near Minder Road. Robert John Haynes, 56, was jogging northbound — toward Kingston — on the northbound shoulder shortly before 7 a.m. At the intersection of Bond and Minder, he attempted to cross the highway and was hit by the vehicle, which was driving in the northbound lane.

Kingston port officials will discuss ORCA cards, SoundRunner subsidy on Monday
Sep 23 2011, 12:02 PM With the help of some federal funding, the SoundRunner ferry system may be offering ORCA cards by November. The Port of Kingston commission will be meeting Monday to formally accept the SoundRunner into the ORCA system, as an affiliate of Kitsap Transit. General manager Meisha Rouser said SoundRunner will be using some of the $764,000 in federal funding they received in August to pay for the $67,590 in software equipment, participation fee and shared costs with Kitsap Transit.

Hansville Road is blocked off from 288th Street to Albertsons while the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office investigates the crash.

Recall issued for oysters harvested from Hood Canal
Sep 23 2011, 2:13 PM Distributors, retailers, restaurants, and consumers have been advised not to eat, sell, or ship oysters harvested between Aug. 30 and Sept. 19 from Washington’s Hood Canal growing area No. 4. The state Department of Health made the recommendations, including contacting people who bought the oysters over the Internet, as part of a recall of oysters in the shell harvested in that growing area between those dates.

A motorcyclist was airlifted from Wolfle Elementary School to Harborview Medical Center Friday morning after a collision on Hansville Road and Three Berry Lane. - Kipp Robertson / Herald Sep 24 2011, 2:15 PM A 21-year-old motorcyclist died from injuries sustained when his motorcycle collided with a Jeep Cherokee at Hansville Road and Three Berry Lane, Friday morning. The motorcyclist was airlifted from Wolfle Elementary School to Harborview Medical Center where he later died. The driver of the Jeep was arrested for an unrelated reason -- an outstanding warrant for driving with a suspended license. Sheriff’s Deputy Ken Dickinson said the collision is still under investigation, but it appeared the Jeep driver had failed to yield the right of way.
