Port Gamble S'Klallam was represented at the celebration of the beginning of demolition of two dams on the Elwha River, Sept. 17 at Lower Elwha Klallam. Port Gamble S'Klallam Councilwoman Francine Swift was among visiting tribal officials from the Northwest. Each were recognized and each were gifted a beaded necklace with copper salmon pendant. Port Gamble S'Klallam's Joe and Laura Price offered songs. Port Gamble S'Klallam Warrior Skyler Fulton and Sr. Princess Miranda Smith were introduced.

The Coast Guard presented the Silver Life Saving Medal to Petty Officer 1st Class Justin L. Heacox and a Certificate of Valor to Barney McGinley for their heroic effort that saved two lives off of Point No Point State Park July 26, 2010.
One person airlifted to Harborview after morning crash; traffic is detoured on Hansville Road

A motorcyclist was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center after a collision with a car Friday morning. Hansville Road is blocked off from 288th Street to Albertsons while the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office investigates the crash.

A 21-year-old motorcyclist died from injuries sustained when his motorcycle collided with a Jeep Cherokee at Hansville Road and Three Berry Lane, Friday morning. The motorcyclist was airlifted from Wolfle Elementary School to Harborview Medical Center where he later died. The driver of the Jeep was arrested for an unrelated reason -- an outstanding warrant for driving with a suspended license. Sheriff’s Deputy Ken Dickinson said the collision is still under investigation, but it appeared the Jeep driver had failed to yield the right of way.
