POULSBO When Poulsbo Fire Fighter/Paramedic Travis Beach was sent to the Poulsbo Place neighborhood to help deliver a baby, he expected to help deliver a baby. The baby had other plans.About 9 a.m. on Feb. 7, Beach and his team were sent out to the neighborhood in response to a 911 call stating "a mother is giving birth." In the time it took the paramedic team to assemble and get into the truck the standard time is about two minutes the healthy baby girl had already made her arrival.
Poulsbo sets sights on future of its infrastructure

POULSBO -- Poulsbo's City Council took the first step toward gaining sustainable long term infrastructure funding Wednesday night. It was a move of foresight Poulsbo Public Works director Jeff Bauman said is needed to make some major upcoming projects possible.The rub is this: though utility fees currently generate enough money for operation, as Poulsbo ripens to a wizened Century City, its infrastructure continues to age. So when it comes to the flotsam this 100-year-old town's got to jettison, or the resources it'd like to conserve, a little planning is in order.
Thus, finance assessments for sewers, storm water, streets, solid waste and water will eventually be under way. The city council unanimously approved the first leg of the job, for the sewer facet of the city's infrastructure.

Hood Canal Bridge Project gets on the bus

OLYMPIC REGION -- The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is officially on the bus in terms of helping the residents of Jefferson, Kitsap and Clallam counties access improved mass transit options when the Hood Canal Bridge is closed for retrofitting and replacement work in May and June 2009. WSDOT inked an agreement with the transit agencies in late 2007, solidifying its commitment to reducing traffic on State Route 104 and US 101 during the six-week project and improving viable travel alternatives.
