Warren Miller film welcomes winter in Bremerton | What's Upcoming
The Kitsap Opera set to soar, Port Orchard to party like it's 1950 and the latest Warren Miller flick heralds winter's return in Bremerton.
The Kitsap Opera soars to new heights with its upcoming production of Gaetano Donizetti’s “La Fille du Regiment” — translated “The Daughter of the Regiment.”
The somewhat lesser-known 19th century French opera — about an orphan girl saved and raised by soldiers of the 21st regiment, amidst the French Revolutionary Wars — is famous for the aria which Marie, the soldier girl, sings for her lover Tonio, hitting an astonishing six high C’s.
Kitsap Opera impresario and producer Leone Cottrell-Adkins calls the opera a “Tour de Force” for all its principal roles.
Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 13 and again at 3 p.m. Nov. 15 at the Admiral Theatre, 515 Pacific Ave. in Bremerton. For tickets, call the Admiral box office at (360) 373-6743.
More info at www.kitsapopera.org.
More than a dozen South Kitsap restaurants will be offering an epicurean menagerie — all you can eat with admission along with a no-host bar, silent auction and two levels of live music and dancing.
Tickets are $35 in advance, $40 at the door, proceeds benefit the South Kitsap Foodline, South Kitsap Boys and Girls Club and the annual Fathoms of Fun summertime celebration.

You can be sure winter’s on its way when the latest Warren Miller film comes to town.
This year marks the 60th anniversary for the esteemed ski-bum-turned-filmmaker — who some say invented the entire action sports film genre.
While Warren Miller himself hung up the camera a few years back, his legend lives on every year with a new film as the season changes.
“Warren Miller is like the changing of the seasons,” says Jake Bogoch, editor of “Skiing Magazine.” “It seems like every time it gets cold, there’s a new Warren Miller film coming out.”
This year’s film — the epically titled “Dynasty” — celebrates Warren Miller Entertainment’s 60-year heritage. They’ve dug archival footage out of the vault and spliced it together with breath-taking shots of some of today’s best, on the slopes around the world — from Northwest China to Northern Norway to Washington state’s Crystal Mountain.
And speaking of Crystal Mountain, WME’s Pacific Northwest media guru Nancy Richter says everyone attending “Dynasty” — Nov. 18 and 19 at the Admiral Theatre, 515 Pacific Ave. in Bremerton — will receive free lift tickets and more.
