Wildlife Art Expo showcases the environment | Beyond Kitsap

The Fort Worden Wildlife Art Expo annually offers an artful look at the environment through the eyes of its visual artists.

But this year — the Expo’s fifth annual from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 10-11 at Fort Worden State Park in Port Townsend — will feature a different, though equally artful, rumination though the Canadian film “Saving Luna: A Whale Story.”

The award-winning 2008 documentary, about an orphaned orca whale’s unexpected and perplexingly social interations with the human population in British Columbia, will show at 8 p.m. Oct. 9 at Fort Worden’s Wheeler Theater, to kick off the Expo.

Inline with the Expo’s educational vein, the Port Townsend Marine Science Center and The Whale Museum of Friday Harbor will be giving educational presentations on the local species throughout the the weekend.

Elsewhere, artists of all stripes will be offering their perspectives.
