One Book, One Community, the second annual.

John Steinbeck’s “Cannery Row” has been selected for Kitsap County’s second annual ‘One Book, One Community’ celebration, in which the Kitsap Regional Library and its affiliates aim to get the entire county reading, and talking about, the same book.

A month-long slate of events kicks off this weekend with Dr. Susan Shillinglaw — professor of English, Steinbeck biographer and scholar-in-residence at the National Steinbeck Center — spending an “Evening on Cannery Row” at 7 p.m. Oct. 3 at the Port Orchard Library, 87 Sidney Ave. She's in Poulsbo the next day.

See the calendar at www.krl.orf for a full list of Steinbeck events.
