Elsewhere in Theater | New, original works at the Changing Scene

The Changing Scene Theatre Northwest’s annual festival of new works enters its final weekend June 12-13. Each year, the theater invites local and regional contemporary playwrights — both amateur and professional — to submit their one-act plays for a chance to be produced at CSTN.

While unknown works are not exactly a surefire business model in the theater world, the annual event is in its seventh year. This year’s entry pool was so rich that the Changing Scene split its production into two series.

June 12-13 will be the final showings of Series Two, a 90-minute romp through Craig Abernethy’s “That’s What I Love About Art,” Flip Wingrove’s “Father and the Cell Phone,” John C. Davenport’s “Kitchen Sink Drama,” and James C. Daly’s “Who’s Afraid of George and Alice?”

Both shows are at 8 p.m., $10 ticket at the Changing Scene, located off Highway 303 near the Outback Steakhouse in East Bremerton.
