Kitsap's inaugural pin-up contest & rockabilly festival is slated for May 16 in Silverdale.

The RockIt Roost, Kitsap’s first boutique dedicated to the rockabilly, tattoo, pin-up culture, is gearing up to host the county’s first ever pin-up contest and rockabilly festival later this spring in Silverdale.

It’s slated for May 16 at the Silverdale Beach Hotel, featuring a full day of hot rods and rockabilly with a red carpet, film noir-themed soiree later that night as contestants vie to be the next RockIt Roost pin-up girl.

The store, which specializes in alternative fashion, furniture and accesories, also has its own roster of pin-up girls. And they’re on the search for the next Roost’R Vixen.

Contestants are invited register at the Roost, located in the Silverdale Way business park near Honeybaked Ham. Entry fee is $50 which comes with a free pair of shoes.

They’re also looking for hairstylists and make up artists as well as sponsors for the event. Call (360) 908-8291. Or stop by the Manette Saloon, 2113 E. 11th St. in Bremerton Saturday night as the RockIt Roost presents Nicole DeVille and her Manhands, one of a few upcoming fundraisers for the contest — 9 p.m. March 7, 21+, $5 cover.
