So you think you can improv?

There are few things more exciting or horrendous, or excitingly horrendous, than being pulled out of the audience and becoming an impromptu part of an improv show.

But it’s all in a good night’s fun for the Portable Reality Show, the Jewel Box Theatre’s resident improv troupe.

Adding to the excitement of its regular show (starting at 7:30 p.m.) — in which anything almost can happen to the characters on stage with the audience’s whim at the helm — the Portable Reality troupe is taking audience participation up a notch with a second show (at 10 p.m. that same night) that they call the Improv Smackdown!

They preface the Smackdown by denoting “full contact audience participation” and beckoning audience members to “show us what you got!” But to get the full gist, you’ve got to be there.

The next PRS show is slated for March 8, with the regular show at 7:30 p.m. and an Improv Smackdown at 10 p.m., at the Jewel Box Theatre, 225 Iverson St. in Poulsbo. Tickets are $10 for the 7:30 p.m. show, $5 for the smackdown.
