Emergency auditions slated at CSTOCK
April 26, 2008 · Updated 11:17 AM
The weirdest things can happen in the world of theater.
One of which has occurred at the Central Stage Theatre of the County Kitsap, better known as CSTOCK, as the theater had staged auditions and secured a director for its planned spring production of the play Harvey only to find out that the rights for the 1945 Pulitzer Prize-winning play by Mary Chase were no longer available.
So at the last minute, the theater has switched gears and will instead be undertaking a Rick Abbot comedy called Play On this spring, keeping Harvey in the archives with hopes for a spring 2009 premiere.
Auditions for Play On directed by Albert Guerra at CSTOCK will be one day only, from 7-10 p.m. March 6 at the Silverdale Community Center, 9729 Silverdale Way. Cold readings from the script.
Play On is one of the very few non-musical productions CSTOCK has taken on. It's the age-old story of a play within a play, this one about a community theater group thats trying to put on an original play amidst a healthy dose of havoc as the authoress wont stop making changes to the script all through production right up to the curtain call.
Info: For any questions or special arrangements, contact the director, Albert at (360) 204-2240 or e-mail albertguerra@excite.com.
