Students at Vinland Elementary School in Poulsbo are collecting “Pennies for Peace” to help educate children in Pakistan and Afghanistan. This is the third year the students have raised money for the Central Asia Institute, which builds schools in remote regions of Asia. The students have donated a total of nearly $8,000 in the last three years combined.

During this year’s six-week drive, students set aside one week to collect money for earthquake relief efforts in Haiti. They raised $826.47 in the “Help for Haiti” drive. Funds will be donated through the nonprofit organization Save the Children.
