RUMMAGE SALE: The Suquamish United Church of Christ, 18732 Division, will hold its semi-annual sale on Aug. 1 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Aug. 2 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. More than 40 families participating. Books, clothes, furniture and unnamed treasures. Proceeds will go toward making the church more energy efficient.

HALF-PRICE SALE: North Kitsap Fishline Food Bank is having a half-price sale on all clothing from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 2 at the thrift shop. There will be many other great reductions as well, including a china cupboard, computer desks, chairs and baby accessories. All proceeds support the non-profit Fishline food bank and client services. GREAT PENINSULA FUTURE FESTIVAL: Historic Port Gamble will be the setting for the greenest outdoor sustainability festival in Washington Aug. 2-3. The Great Peninsula Future Festival will mix interactive displays of green concepts, products and services with family entertainment, live music, food and hand-made crafts. GUEST SPEAKER: Pastor Jeff Driscoll will be the guest preacher Aug. 3 at Poulsbo First Lutheran Church, 18920 4th Ave NE, at the 8 and 11 a.m. traditional services in the sanctuary and the 9 a.m. contemporary worship service in the Christian Center. Pastor Driscoll and his family are currently serving Peace Lutheran Church in Silvana.
CHUCKWAGON: Chuckwagon Senior Nutrition Program presents a Hawaiian Luau Aug. 5 at noon. The meal will include Hawaiian roast pork and other island favorites. The event is open to seniors age 60 and older. Reservations are required at least one day in advance. $3 suggested donation. There will be entertainment at some locations. BARN DANCE: North Kitsap Eagles is holding a Barn Dance Aug. 9. The day will start with a BBQ cook-off. BRIDGE TOUR: Space is still available for Poulsbo Parks and Recreation’s Aug. 14 senior excursion to the Hood Canal Bridge and Port Townsend. PARLEZ-VOUS FRANCAIS?: L’Aventure Francaise Summer Camps, two age-appropriate French language programs, are offered by native speaker Myriam Mullen. Preschool camp will include stories, games, songs and crafts. Children’s camp is for ages 6-12. They will embark on an adventure that will include trips to the Seattle Aquarium and the Pacific Science Center, as well as cooking, arts and crafts, all while learning the French language and culture. SCHOOL SUPPLIES: The North Kitsap Fishline Food Bank is starting their “2008-2009 School Supplies Program” which provides K-12 children in need with basic school supplies. The cost of sending children back to school can be very difficult for disadvantaged families. Items such as glue sticks, loose-leaf notebook paper, colored pencils, washable color markers, spiral paper and more are needed.
