POULSBO — Thomas (TJ) Jensen died unexpectedly of natural causes, July 1 at his home in Oak Harbor.

Tom was born July 16, 1948 and grew up in Poulsbo and Lofall, the son of Jerol (Jerry) and Maxine Jensen. He graduated from North Kitsap High School in 1966 and, after a short time at Olympic College, joined the U.S. Army Reserves and trained as a medic at Fort Polk, La.

Tom served at the 50th General Hospital during the Vietnam War era. He worked many years in marine and highway construction as well as in the commercial fishing industry.

Fishing, crabbing and spending time with friends and family were among his many loves. He enjoyed being on the water and attending auctions with his friend, Bryan Olson.

Tom is survived by his sons, Jerol (Lisa) and Jeff (Lilli) Jensen, both of Poulsbo; and grandchildren, TJ (Thomas Jerol), 16; Cassie, 14; Camryn, 6; and Claire, 7 months. He is also survived by his brothers, Bruce of Seattle and Brad of Port Townsend; and sister, Maralinn of Quilcene.

An announcement of a celebration of Tom’s life will follow.
