KINGSTON — Leila Inez Ball died June 8 after a nine-month battle with ovarian cancer. She was 90.

Leila was born July 6, 1922 in Minneapolis, Minn., to Alvah L. and Adelaide F. Warren. In 1931, her family moved to the Los Angeles area until 1940, when her father was hired to work at PSNS. Leila graduated in 1941 from Silverdale High School. Her father then bought land from Pope & Talbot and moved to the Poulsbo area.

On June 18, 1943, Leila and Leslie Ball were married at St. Paul’s Church in Port Gamble. They were married 59 years.

In 1949, their first daughter, Vivian Elaine, was born. In 1956, their second daughter, Virginia Elizabeth, was born.

Leila was a homemaker, Girl Scout leader, taught at a handicapped school at St. Charles Episcopal Church, and worked at Fun with Fabrics in downtown Poulsbo. Her love of God was shown in her love for her family and those whom she met and worked with.

Leila was preceded in death by her husband in 2002.

She is survived by her daughters, Vivian Florio (Nicholas) and Virginia Ball; her sister, Avis Halderson; grandchildren, Margaret, James and Nicole Florio, all of Poulsbo.

Memorial service will be held on June 22, 2 p.m., at Bayside Community Church, 25992 Barber Cut-Off Road NE, Kingston.
