POULSBO — Members of the Poulsbo Noon Lions and Evening Pride Branch Lions clubs take to North Kitsap streets on Friday and Saturday to raise funds as part of the annual White Cane Days.
All donations from the community are used locally for sight and hearing needs. In addition to cash donations, club members will be collecting used eyeglasses, including non-prescription “readers” for recycling.
Poulsbo Lions will be at these locations:
— Albertsons in Kingston and Poulsbo.
— Central Market in Poulsbo.
— Red Apple in Poulsbo.
— Downtown Poulsbo on Front Street.
— Bainbridge ferry terminal.
“We raised around $3,000 last year and hope to meet or exceed that goal this year,” said Pat Burch, project co-chair.
“With so many good causes needing help in North Kitsap, any donation, no matter how large or small, is greatly appreciated. You are truly helping Lions make a difference in our community.”
Burch said the Lions club assisted approximately 35 low-income clients with vision needs in the past year. “This group ranged from elementary school children to senior citizens. In addition, we conduct vision screening at many community events,” Burch said.
