Poulsbo booster Bill Austin volunteers much of his time and materials to projects around the city, including his handcrafted Christmas light display along downtown’s Front Street.

What could be purchased for $25,000 Austin does for a quarter of the cost. “It’s what I do,” he said while demonstrating how he makes the metal light displays.

“I feel it’s my duty to do this. I feel it’s a duty for everyone to give something back to the community.”

This year, he added three more light sets, for a total of eight, to the Front Street displays, as well as red hearts, a traditional Norwegian holiday symbol.

Here is a little about how he does it.
