Gerald Geddy Mitchell | Passages

Gerald Geddy Mitchell, 66, of Hansville, died peacefully on Aug. 17 at Martha & Mary Nursing Home in Poulsbo. He was born June 23, 1946 in Bar Harbor, Maine, the son of Estella Mae Bourgeois and Herbert L. Mitchell.

He attended schools in Bar Harbor, Maine and New Britain, Conn.

He served as a Merchant Marine, then owned Geddy’s Pub in Bar Harbor, Maine in 1974-1987. He presented concerts there for Bonnie Raitt, Wynton Marsalis, Donovan, Los Lobos and others. He developed land in Hawaii, Colorado, and Washington. He was an importer of exotic goods from Southeast Asia.

He sailed the Caribbean Sea for 15 years, eventually settling in Panama where he built a home in the jungles of Jose del Mar. He operated a tour and taxi business in Bar Harbor, Maine as well as an inn in Franklin, Maine.  He is survived by his first wife, Betsy Bowen, and his life partner of the past 26 years, Jeri Hansen. He is also survived by his brother, Louis Mitchell, of Los Angeles, Calif.

A private memorial service will be held in September.
