POULSBO — Charles Peter Wallis died June 28 at his residence in Poulsbo. He was 85.

He was born on June 20, 1927 in Rockford, Ill. He worked as a Navy diver for 35 years and retired in 1974.

He was commended for his outstanding service as a chief boatswain’s mate. He earned many decorations, including the Presidential Unit Citation with bronze star.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth, and his parents.

Charles was a member of St. Olaf Catholic Church in Poulsbo. He loved dogs and the sea. Burial at sea will take place with Navy honors.
