Howell graduates from Holy Names Academy

KINGSTON — Elsie Rose Howell of Kingston graduated from Holy Names Academy High School in Seattle on May 27.

She attended Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic School in Bremerton from grades 1-8.

Elsie graduated as salutatorian of her high school class of 159 girls, with 4.2 GPA. She was an AP Scholar with Distinction and received the President’s Award for Educational Excellence — Gold Award, and Washington State Honors Award.

Elsie, the daughter of Chris and Mary Howell of Kingston, received Villanova University’s Honors Program Presidential Scholarship — full tuition, including room and board — and will join the VU honors class of 2016 in Pennsylvania to major in biology. She plans to return to the area to attend University of Washington School of Medicine.

Elsie is a cross-country runner and qualified for state finals in 2010 and 2011. She has been a certified ski instructor at Stevens Pass for four years, a volunteer for West Sound Wildlife Shelter on Bainbridge Island for two years; and is an active member of St. Olaf Catholic Church in Poulsbo. She works for the MV Skansonia Wedding & Events Facility.
